Preconception / Medication Planning Consultation

Preconception / Medication Planning Consultation

$375.00

My Preconception / Medication Planning Consult is a 60-minute, one-time evaluation for patients who want to make thoughtful, evidence-based decisions about psychiatric medications before or during family-building. This preconception medication planning visit is specifically designed for people planning pregnancy, already trying to conceive, undergoing fertility treatments, or navigating complex reproductive histories.

During this reproductive psychiatry planning consult, I review your full mental health and medical background, including past diagnoses, previous medication trials, pregnancy or postpartum experiences, menstrual patterns, and any history of pregnancy loss or complications. I also look closely at your current medications and symptoms so I can provide a nuanced OB medication risk consultation.

Together, we discuss the benefits and risks of staying on, adjusting, or changing medications in the context of fertility and pregnancy mental health. I draw on my dual training in psychiatric mental health and midwifery to explain how different medications interact with conception, IVF, pregnancy, and breastfeeding, and what is known from the latest research. If you are already working with an OB/GYN, midwife, or fertility specialist, I encourage shared decision-making and, with your permission, I can communicate my recommendations to them.

This perinatal mental health evaluation often brings significant relief to patients who have been told simply to stop medications or who have received conflicting guidance. You will leave with a written summary of options, a clearer understanding of relative risks, and a concrete plan tailored to your goals — whether that is trying to conceive now, planning for the future, or clarifying safest options in case of an unplanned pregnancy. My focus is always on protecting both your mental wellness and your reproductive health so you do not have to choose one at the expense of the other.
